About the Author

Sylvia was born and raised in the suburbs of Baltimore, MD. She always found herself drawn to the creative arts, often writing, drawing, and playing her trumpet as a child. When tasked with picking out a career and pursuing a degree, Sylvia decided to combine her creative hobbies with her passion for technology and went to school for Video Game Development.

She was accepted into UMBC as a Linehan Artist Scholar. There she developed her talent for game art and joined the school’s Game Developer Club. There she made lasting friendships and found the man that would one day be her husband. After graduating with a Visual Arts degree in Animation and Interactive Media, Sylvia found a job as a Technical Artist at one of the many local game companies in the Hunt Valley area of Maryland. However, she eventually realized her heart belonged to the hobby she’d been doing ever since she was a child — writing.

Shortly after marrying her husband, she quit her job and pursued writing full time. She began writing under a different pen name with a focus on science fiction and fantasy. After self publishing four books, Sylvia made the happy discovery that her and her husband would be welcoming a new member to the family. With the birth of her son in 2015, Sylvia decided to go on a writing hiatus so she could raise her newborn at home. During those two years, she came to the realization that her niche wasn’t in speculative fiction. Instead, what she really wanted to write was romance.

At the very end of 2016, she opened her Wattpad account, under the pen name sylviaNgould, and set out with the task of writing a thousand words every weekday. From that came the novel, The Mrs. Claus Affair later titled Finding Mrs. Claus. After that, Sylvia threw herself completely into her writing as she redesigned her identity as a romance writer. Through the support of her readers on Wattpad, she completed the rough draft for six books by the end of 2017.

Sylvia became a Wattpad Star in June of 2020. Later that year, Finding Mrs. Claus took on a new name and joined Wattpad’s Paid Stories program as A Bachelor for Christmas. In the summer of 2022, Sylvia became a Wattpad Creator and two more stories—Falling for a Memory and A Groom for Christmas—became Paid Stories.

Sylvia has recently returned to writing full time after spending a few years as a communications director. She’s grateful for the support of her family, including her husband, son, and her two less than helpful cats, Milo and Jupiter. When she’s not writing, she’s often baking, playing video games, cross stitching, binging TV shows, and reading.
